Astronomy
AST 101 Astronomy I
4 Credits
Focuses on the history of astronomy, the tools of the
astronomer and the contents of the solar system including
the planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids.
Incorporates laboratory experience.
This course is one of the Statewide Guaranteed Transfer courses (GT-SC1).
AST 102 Astronomy II
4 Credits
Emphasizes the structure and life cycle of the stars, the sun,
galaxies and the universe as a whole, including cosmology
and relativity. Incorporates laboratory experience.

AST 275 Topics in Astronomy
1-6 Variable Credits
Provides students with a vehicle to pursue in-depth
exploration of special topics of interest.
AST 285 Independent Study
1-6 Variable Credits
Meets the individual needs of students. Students engage in
intensive study or research under the direction of a qualified
Instructor.
PREREQUISITE: Instructor's Permission.
