SENSITIVE PEOPLE
Suzanne SimpsonAppreciating Your Unique Sensitivity and Creativity
—Suzanne Simpson
Have you gone through life with others telling you that you are just too sensitive? Are you struggling with how to channel your creativity and talents? High sensitivity is an inherited trait of around 15-20 percent of the population. As a uniquely sensitive person you may struggle to fit in and get overwhelmed by this fast paced world. Are you highly empathic, intuitive, creative, cautious, and conscientious? Do you need solitude, rest and renewal? Learn to appreciate sensitivity traits and design a life that supports you, others, and your world. Discuss the work of Elaine Aron, PhD, author of the Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive in a World That Overwhelms You, identify the Uniquely Sensitive Person characteristics, unique gifts and vulnerabilities, find specific practices for self-care, and design a lifestyle that supports vocational and relational pursuits.
Suzanne Simpson, a licensed therapist and life renewal coach, has worked for over 20 years helping people connect to themselves, discover personal empowerment, and design a renewed life path. As a Uniquely Sensitive Person herself, she practices a holistic lifestyle of integrating the heart, body, and spirit to allow her to live according to her design.

HAPPY
Happiness – Can You Improve Yours?
—Adrienne Hynes
Have you noticed all the articles on Happiness? A few years ago, Time Magazine featured a story with several articles using research from universities. In January, 2008, the TV program 20/20 devoted the full hour on the topic. A long awaited book was just published: the “How of Happiness A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want” by author, Sonja Lyubomirsky a research psychologist at the University of California. The book summarizes lengthy research of her work which finds that happiness is:

  1. 50% pre-determined
  2. 10% circumstantial
  3. 40% up to us

Using simple techniques, you can change that 40%. Discuss tips to improve your happiness, based on this and other research not based on “pop” psychology.
