How to
Write for Children and Young Adults
— Denise Vega
Are you working on a picture book or novel for children or
young adults or do you have an idea for one? In this workshop
with award-winning
children and young adult book author Denise Vega, evaluate what
is currently published, understand picture book and novel structure,
analyze existing works, and explore various writing techniques
such as “show don’t tell.” If you have something
you’re working on, bring it! The majority of this workshop
focuses on good writing techniques for both picture books and novels,
with some time at the end to discuss how to submit a manuscript
for possible publication and other “getting published” topics.
Note that this course does not cover self-publishing.
