Private Instrument and Voice Lessons
For all levels and abilities for any aspiring musician over age 8. Upon registration you will receive 10 half hour private lessons over 10 weeks. Lessons will be set up to meet your schedule with some flexibility. You will be contacted by the instructor to schedule your lessons. Instructors will explain the policy for any make-up sessions if permitted. Sessions will begin the week of September 22 and run for 10 weeks..

When registering, please specify the string, woodwind, brass, or guitar instrument.

Easy Piano in 6 weeks

Play Piano By Ear

Contrary to popular belief, anyone can learn to play by ear. Discover the inside secrets professional piano players use but never reveal. Learn how to pick tunes out of your head, take songs off the radio, and even transpose music. After watching a demonstration, you’ll be picking out tunes with both hands. Learn how to find the starting note, recognize common chord patterns, changes and progressions, use the circle of fifths and more.
Pre-requisite: Instant Piano Class or working knowledge of major, minor and 7th chords.

Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People

You don’t need years of weekly lessons to learn piano. In just half a day, learn enough to give you years of musical enjoyment. The traditional approach teaches note reading, while professional pianists use chords. Learn all the chords you’ll need to play any song, any style any key. Perfect your technique at home, using an exclusive CD provided by the instructor. It’s easy, fun, and musically correct. If you already know your way around the keyboard a little, (F-A-C-E, Every Good Boy Does Fine), you know enough to enroll in this workshop. If not, a free pamphlet that explains the basics will be mailed to you.
Karen Reinhold has taught the One Day Piano Workshop methods since 1997, which has been taken by over 100,000 students nationwide. The PBS program, “Play Piano in a Flash” uses these learning techniques.

Enjoy the rich theatre scene in Denver. Build an itinerary of theatrical experiences from the broad spectrum of productions available in the fall. Silence is Golden: The Lost Art of the Silent Cinema

If you love film but may not have experienced the grandeur and artistry of the full-length silent film, or if you are just plain tired of the repugnancy and noisiness of today’s films, come, relax, watch and discuss some of the best silent films. Get acquainted with legends like Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, King Vidor, and DW Griffith. Discuss universal themes, historical trends, backgrounds of directors and actors, and view a different film each week.
Michael Maloney has been in the entertainment field for over 25 years, taught English, literature, and theater, and traveled and worked overseas for over a decade. Inspiring people about the artistic relevance of silent films is a passion of his.

Argentine Tango

Learn the fun, healthy, sophisticated steps of the Argentine Tango. Discover your hidden artistic talents while making new friends and receiving a mild workout. Learn to dance with total confidence. Dance shoes with suede or leather sole shoes are highly recommended. No rubber sole shoes. It is recommended that you register with a partner. If you have taken Argentine Tango, register for Level II.

Spencer and Vanessa Larkin were instructed by world famous professional Argentine master dance teachers in Argentina. They have danced together for more than 30 years in social salons and have taught dance classes in Argentina, USA, Germany, Italy, France, and Chile.

Hip Hop Dance at the Gardens

Discover the funky street styling’s of Hip Hop while getting a great workout! Practice exciting, high intensity Hip Hop moves and create combinations you can use on the dance floor. Promote your style, proper movement, musicality and fun. Register for this class each session and work on different choreography. Wear comfortable, athletic clothing/shoes and bring a towel or mat for warm up and conditioning. Bring a water bottle!

DANCE AT STATE OF THE ARTS STUDIO
FOR DANCE AND THE PERFORMING ARTS
The following classes are held at a beautiful facility which is equipped with floating/sprung floors, mirrors and barres, a sound system with pitch control and air conditioning. The expert SOTA instructors help you develop skills at your pace, and promote individual style, proper movement, musicality and fun! Classes are co-ed. Due to high demand, many classes are available at two levels: a beginning class (Level I) and a class for students to continue after the beginning class and progress to a higher level (Level II). The last Friday of every session, there is a Practice Party held at the Studio.

Unless indicated otherwise in the course description, wear comfortable business casual attire in which you can move. Suede soled dance shoes are the ONLY footwear allowed on the State Of The Arts Studio floors. No outdoor street shoes! If you do not own suede soled dance shoes, socks and/or bare feet are welcome.

Adult Jazz and Hip Hop
Build a strong foundation in Jazz Technique and discover the funky street stylings of Hip Hop while you get a great workout! Practice high intensity moves and put together combinations you can use on the dance floor. Strengthen your core and build long, lean muscles while increasing flexibility and learning Jazz/Hip Hop techniques. Great as a starter course or for more accomplished dancers. Adult Ballet Level I and II
Ballet develops strength, poise, grace, balance, agility and is a great cross trainer for sports! Work core strength while developing long, lean muscles and increasing flexibility while discovering this beautiful dance form. Practice the fundamentals of technique at barre and center and explore movement traveling across the floor and with center combinations. Discover Cecchetti, RAD, French, Russian and/or Vaganova styles of Ballet. Women should wear tights and leotard as a base and may add a skirt or layer dance pants/shirt over the top along with pink split soled ballet slippers. Full sole slippers are welcome if you already own a pair. Men should wear dance pants and fitted T-shirt along with black split soled ballet slippers.

Adult Tap Level I and II
“Shuffle Off to Buffalo” and have a great ol’ time! Discover theatrical and rhythm styles of Tap dance and at the same time get some cardio conditioning and tone the lower body. Polish basic technique and fundamentals, for the beginning level tap student while continuing a comprehensive progression through higher level figures and combinations for the more experienced dancer. Learn basic technique and fundamentals for the beginning tap student. Wear fitted, comfortable, athletic clothing and Tap oxfords (preferred) or Character Taps/heels welcome if you already own a pair. No Mary Jane, Split Sole or Jazz Taps.

Ballroom is back! Big Band sound and Ballroom nightclubs are the rage. Come and learn the basics to ballroom dancing including Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Cha Cha, Rhumba, and Tango.
