Helping Parents Remain in Their Home

Sharon Breay, A.S.I.D.
According to AARP, nearly 90% of Americans want to “age in place,” by remaining in their own home. 81% of Colorado senior citizens live in their own homes. But as they age, they are more prone to fall, easier to experience visual challenges, and often must get around with a walker or wheelchair. This presents not only a challenge to them, but in today’s independent society, such things are depressing and lessen the enjoyment of the Golden Years. Learn steps to create a safer environment for the Golden Agers you care about. Decrease your worries, enhance their feelings of sufficiency, and create a real estate sale-enhancing feature, “Universal Design,” on the home they live in.

Sharon Breay is a licensed designer who has worked with American Association of Retired Persons, Easter Seals, and is recommended by National American Society of Interior Designers for this type of design.
