Steven Stokes

Steven has been an event planner for the past 18 years, starting his career with the internationally acclaimed performance company Up with People. While in Up with People, he traveled to over 200 cities in 9 countries, promoting and planning the stay for a cast of 150 people. After Up with People, Steven worked for the Olympics/Paralympics in Salt Lake City planning the torch relay program for the Paralympics (17 events in 15 cities in Utah) and then returned to Denver to work for the City of Northglenn as an event planner.

In 2007 Steven opened Events Etc., an event planning company in Denver, with his sister. They plan over 25 events annually, including the Parker Days Festival, Arapahoe County Fair, the World Wide Antique and Vintage Show, the Bro Show, the Inventor Showcase, and the Holiday Chocolate Festival at the Broadmoor.

Last year Events Etc. was privileged to be the event planning company for Habitat's Raise The Roof Dinner, which hosted President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood, Isaac Slade from The Fray, and 1,550 other friends of Habitat for Humanity.

Steven has also been a guest writer for the Colorado Meetings and Events Magazine for the past five years. Steven started the Event Management Certificate Program with the support of the college and the Colorado Festivals and Events Association in 2002 and has been teaching at the college ever since.

Steven is originally from Arvada, Colorado and he earned his Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. His event experience comes from planning over 650 events for an estimated 2 million people.
