Introduction to Improv Theatre: The Method in the Madness

Are you curious about improvisational theatre: what it is and how it’s done? Or do you just want to have fun and relieve stress? Each week start with warm-up exercises to relax the body, energize the soul, and focus the creative juices. Next, do improv games to learn the individual and group skills necessary to create complete improv performances. Each week, add new improv skills and become more comfortable with the improv performance process. Be sure to wear loose comfortable clothing.

Intermediate Improv Theatre

This workshop picks up where Introduction to Improv Theatre leaves off and focuses on more character- and scene-building skills and activities. You’ll continue to enhance your skills handling objects and switching emotions. Over the weeks you’ll fine tune your improv skills and become more comfortable maintaining characters through entire scenes. Be sure to wear loose comfortable clothing. Prerequisite: completion of Improv Theatre: The Method in the Madness or instructor’s permission.

Opera! Opera! Opera!

“I always wanted to learn about opera, but…….”. Here is your chance to gain knowledge and understanding of opera during an enjoyable evening of discussion, listening to CDs and watching videos and DVDs from Puccini’s La Boheme, with lush rich music, Paris in the early 1800’s, poor struggling artists, and love! Dvorak’s Rusalka, a fairytale opera based on the story of the water sprite, Rusalka who falls in love with a mortal man. Discover Rossini’s Cinderella, a slightly different version of Cinderella in opera form. Arrangements may be made to attend an Opera Colorado dress rehearsal.

MANDOLIN

Beginning Mandolin I

Discover a classical music approach to learning popular songs on the mandolin such as Love Me Tender, Something Stupid, When the Saints Go Marching and other tunes suggested by you. Bring an 8-string mandolin in good condition, a pick, an electronic tuner and a music stand. The last class session will be a recital for all students and invited guests. Topics include tuning, note reading, playing and tremolo. This is not a bluegrass mandolin class and is for students 18 years of age and older.

Private Instrument and Voice Lessons

For all levels and abilities for any aspiring musician over age 8. You will receive 10 half hour private lessons over 10 weeks. Lessons will be set up to meet your schedule with some flexibility. You will be contacted by the instructor to schedule your lessons. Instructors will explain the policy for any make-up sessions if permitted. Ten-week sessions will begin the week of Sept 21-Dec 12. When registering, please specify the string, woodwind, brass, or guitar instrument. Refunds will not be given for missed lessons.
