Learn Adobe’s newest versions (9-10) of their user-friendly image editing software to organize and enhance your digital photos. Bring your laptop (PC or Mac) loaded with Elements software, as well as images that you would like to use. During the first week learn how to manage your photos and practice using editing tools to improve your images. During the second week, explore cover layers, how to create artistic affects, how to take out unwanted objects (like that pesky pedestrian in your family photo), and other practical editing skills.

Information on “digital darkroom” techniques will be covered in order to help you improve lighting, color, distortion and sharpness. Tools and features covered will include levels, non-destructive layers, masks (applying effects or filters to specific areas), blending, as well as color and skin tone corrections and Photomerge. Additionally, information on collage techniques and some basic graphic design options, such as digital scrapbooking and bookmaking tips will be covered.

Photos will then be shared, analyzed, and appreciated by classmates. Learn through a sense of whimsy, playfulness, and “undiscovered competence” via highly interactive, engaging and practical discussion. Use your own digital camera regardless of make and model. The material fee covers the cost of a book students will produce.

Ron will help you see creatively, explore the techniques of framing, and when to use fill flash, reflectors, and manual settings for more versatility. Discover how to use natural lighting for dramatic effect. He will also share some options for low-cost methods to create a full-color, hardcover photo book of your images.
