I
am showing as a non–resident, but I have
been in Colorado for over a year — what do I need to do?
- ACC determines your
residency at the time you complete your College application. See
Tuition Classification Information for details.
- You must have documentation
showing you have had physical presence in Colorado for at least
one year prior to the first day the semester begins. Examples
of documentation may include:
- Holding a Colorado
driver’s license or motor vehicle registration
- Paying Colorado
state income taxes
- Owning residential
Colorado real estate
- Registering to
vote in Colorado
- Being permanently
employed in Colorado
- If you are under 23
and not emancipated, the residency information you record is for
your parents or legal guardian.
- If you (and your parents
or legal guardian, if applicable) are Colorado residents, and
the system has recorded you as a non–resident, the information
on your application may not have been complete.
- If you are under 23,
but emancipated from your parents or legal guardian, you will
need to complete a Petition for In-state Tuition Classification.form.
- If you are coming
from another community college, we take the residency information
determined by your “home” or previous school.
