What is your fondest memory at ACC?
My fondest memory of ACC (and there are many) is taking photos with the staff of the school newspaper, The Rapp Street Journal, of the demolition of our old campus as the Main Building rose in the distance. Out with the old, in with the new. Exciting times.
How has ACC influenced you?
ACC has influenced me in so many ways, not only socially (with some of my best friendships made there), but academically. Two of my favorite teachers of all time were at ACC. One of them, Jenny Caldwell Diamond, got me on track for my writing career.
What have you been doing since you left ACC?
What I've been doing: I am an astronomical artist, and a science journalist. I also teach art, writing, and science. I love to write books for both kids and adults (I have 22 out) and work for magazines (my work has appeared in National Geographic, Smithsonian, TIME, Discover, Astronomy, Asimov's Science Fiction, and others). My wife, Caroline, has been my coauthor on twelve of the children's books. My lessons learned at ACC have had a profound effect on my career and life, and I continue to enjoy visiting there!
